Deborah and Jim Karwisch got involved with pottery in 2001. Having taken beginning wheel and hand building classes at the Mable House Arts Center near their home, Deborah and Jim also took Folk Pottery and Thrown & Altered classes at the John C. Campbell Folk School. They continue taking classes as much for the social aspect as honing their skills and developing new ideas.
Jim recently retired and now spends most every day in the pottery studio. He enjoys carving his wheel-thrown pieces and fires in a gas reduction kiln with a controlled cool down.
Deborah has dabbled in watercolor, pastels, and photography over the years and recently began to focus on product photography since she spends so much time photographing the pottery. Deborah currently teaches photography classes at the Mable House Arts Center in addition to the pottery classes she has taught for several years.
Deborah and Jim have participated in the following shows:
Arts in the Park in Blue Ridge, GA
Celebrate Clayton in Clayton, GA
